Mark has been influenced by childhood memories of growing up in Sheffield and standing outside a cinema in the cold winter fog . The silhouettes he noticed and all the colours he saw filtering through the grey atmosphere have resulted in the artwork he produces today . In complete contrast he also paints the seascapes around the beautiful Isles of Scilly .

Kath is inspired by the urban wild and notions of energy, mutability and flux. she builds on digital photographic layering through a range of materials and techniques.

She is drawn to places of decay and transformation where, through the constant play of light, the shifting shadows of trees and plants are to be found. This is moving her from photographic realism towards abstraction.

By exploring the possibilities offered by paint, charcoal and ink when applied to various types of paper substrates, she is buiding on her digital photographic skills throught the techniques of mark making, layering, printing and collage.

She enjoys furthering her knowledge through reading, experimentation and reflection on these intuitively led images. The process provides her with a source of hope and solace in the context of a world that is challenging .
